Overview
The following product categories are prohibited on cart.ke. Stores listing prohibited items will be suspended.
Prohibited categories
- Firearms, ammunition, and weapons.
- Recreational drugs and drug paraphernalia.
- Prescription medications.
- Tobacco and vaping products to under-18 buyers.
- Alcohol to under-18 buyers (general sale is not currently supported on the platform).
- Counterfeit or pirated goods (replica designer items, unauthorised copies of copyrighted media).
- Live animals.
- Human remains, organs, or body parts.
- Hazardous chemicals and substances regulated under Kenyan law.
- Sexual services or services with sexual content as the primary deliverable.
- Foods, beverages, and any consumable items (deferred to a future vertical).
- Financial services, MLM schemes, and get-rich-quick offers.
- Stolen goods or goods of suspicious origin.
Note on food: cart.ke's MVP scope intentionally excludes food and beverages (different regulatory regime). A dedicated food vertical may launch later.
